Devon U18's Girls - GLOUCESTERSHIRE 5 DEVON 27
This was a much anticipated match as the two counties had never faced each other but within the first five minutes Holly Beaven was passed the ball from No8 Alice Weekes and then neatly sidestepped past 2 Gloucester players and ran from the halfway line to score her second try in two matches. The next two tries came from Garnet McKinder with Devon playing the running line and getting the ball out to her on the wing and producing a storming run to place the ball under the posts. Kim Barber converted to make the score 0-17 to Devon at half time.

The second half produced an equally impressive display by the Devon girls, but Gloucestershire had refocused and were playing a more defensive line. But a great ball passed out from Cat Connabeer to Garnet on the 3/4 line enabled her to run and score a try in the corner. Some great forwards work enabled Devon to bring the game back to their own pace and even when under pressure they were able to turn the ball over and play the advantage. Gloucestershire took advantage in a momentary lapse of concentration by the Devon girls to put the ball over the line but quick thinking from Clara Neilson with a ball picked up from the ruck took off down the blind side of the wing and again off loaded to Garnet who scored under the posts for her 4th try of the match. Needless to say Garnet was awarded the Golden Boot.

The county coaching staff would like to thank the Exeter Chiefs for their support of the girls with use of their facilities and extra training sessions with some of the 1st XV.
